'How strengths psychology positively impacts everything' with Aman Zaidi
Organisations have always longed for self-motivated employees who will demonstrate ownership and deliver consistent, excellent performance. Sadly, such employees have remained unicorns.
On the other hand, human beings in the workforce also dream of delivering outstanding performance and being seen as stars. Again, very few of them do.
This happens to be true in the education system as well - the desire to see motivated students excelling yet teachers, parents and students dragging horses to the water to make them drink.
Archaic models of human development are to blame for this chasm between desire and reality. The obsession with fixing "gaps" and creating well-rounded employees is the reason why performance is inconsistent and unmotivated. Done consistently, this obsession also delivers burnout, a lack of wellbeing and mental illness.
What if we looked at human development through a radically new lens?
What if this new lens yielded more self-directed, consistent and nearer to excellent performance?
What if this lens also had the power to improve collaboration and innovation?
What if it could also make our institutions and society more inclusive and appreciative of diversity?
These are a few of the what-ifs we will examine..
