Listening: Unpacking Voice, Silence, and Authority in the Workplace - David Bellamy.
Â
In any workplace, the decision to speak up or stay quiet is rarely straightforward. Voice and silence are deeply intertwined with the power structures we operate within, and equally important is how we listen. The way our words are received—whether heard, ignored, or misunderstood—shapes our decision to continue speaking or remain silent.
We’ve all been there—moments where we’re unsure whether to speak up or stay quiet. What gives us that push to share, and what holds us back?
In this virtual Dialogic Drinks, we’ll explore the power dynamics and consider why some voices are heard while others are overlooked. We’ll challenge ourselves to think about how we often unconsciously dismiss or undervalue feedback and how we can start to change that.
Our goal? To reimagine what’s possible when we create spaces where more voices can be heard, where communication flows freely, and where power no longer silences important conversations.
