Deepening Our Connections with Perspectives with Becky Andree, PhD.

Human connections are vital to individual and collective flourishing. The very nature of work involves human connections, and organizations depend on these connections to get work done and achieve organizational goals. These type of connections can be short, one-time events, a series of interactions that develop into relationships or organization-defined relationship roles that create ongoing interactions. Perspective taking is a part of that connecting—the capacity to understanding how someone or a group of people think, feel, or intend. But the polarization that exists in society might suggest we aren’t very skilled at perspective taking and connecting. Additionally, leaders need to be skilled at perspective taking and the coordination of perspectives. This contributes to solving complex problems and individual leader cognitive development. Both leader and leadership development would benefit from perspectival action developmental understanding.

This week we will explore how to use perspectives to deepen our connections and grow ourselves.
