All organization problems trace back to misalignment by Lindsay Uittenbogaard and John Dobbin.
John and Lindsay's Dialogic Drinks starts with a bold statement "All organization problems trace back to misalignment." In this session, you'll walk through the door to a parallel thought paradigm: one that fits with everything you already know while presenting a new way to look at organization effectiveness through people. Perception comparison is at the heart of it because after all, perception is reality. You'll be reflecting on:
- Your experiences of misalignment - how they played out and how they could have been avoided
- Why data and dialogue play a crucial role closing alignment gaps before they start causing real damage
- How the low psychological safety scores of one leadership team (case study from Jan 2023) became actionable in context.
Lindsay Uittenbogaard - she didn’t know she had Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) until last year and this awareness put much into perspective. She had studied Creative Arts to avoid having to concentrate on reading texts; she had worked in Broadcast Journalism because you don’t need an attention span to produce 30 second clips; then spent a decade travelling geographically and professionally from marketing to PR to management, learning but not finding a core purpose. IN 2001 she landed in the Netherlands in her 30’s as a Business Communications practitioner and strove to rise up the ladder in multinational organizations, becoming an IABC-accredited Business Communicator; a certified member of the Reputation Institute, and the CIPD; and a published author in the Gower Handbook on Internal Communication 2008. But inevitably, Lindsay found the culture of misalignment in these large corporate environments too constraining for the business and too frustrating for herself. Her experiences led her to discover and develop a data-driven approach to team alignment in 2016, Mirror Mirror, which has continued to hold her attention, and that of many delivery partners and clients ever since.
John Dobbin - I help organisations become more adaptive, to help them survive and thrive in volatile and complex conditions and equip them to better face difficult and uncertain challenges. In a career spanning 30 years, I have amassed considerable knowledge and experience leading digital transformation and Agile programs for large media, telecommunications, retail, government and finance entities in APAC and EMEA. My current work is focussed on helping organisations significantly improve their performance through the implementation of Agile and Lean techniques, designing adaptive organisational structures, and through teaching Agile and Adaptive Systems theory.
