Achieving consensus in a fractured world by Scott Zedack and Lindsay Uittenbogaard.
Ā
The words āconsensusā, ācoherenceā, and āshared realityā come up with frequency at Drinking Dialogue sessions, as inevitably they would, after all, dialogue is all about creating shared meaning. In this session we go deepā¦.
- Weāll explore why shared meaning can be such a difficult process and how Mirror Neurons can help
- Weāll critique a not-quite-yet-released approach* to accelerating team dialogues, while simultaneously practicing and observing your own dialogue skills
- And weāll get back to the essential link from dialogue to action.
*This is Mirror Mirror - it was presented at DD a couple of years ago. Itās a way to capture perspectives of team members on aspects of their own effectiveness, turn the inputs into data, then combine the results to see where the group lands and how their perspectives contrast. The low scoring items show where focus is needed. Sounds pretty good - but why wasnāt it taking off?
Weāre now emerging from a phase of metamorphosis with Mirror Mirror. Weād like to show you what weāre about to take to market and want to hear your reactions. All you need to do is bring an open mind, and be ready for some intentional listening, respecting, suspending, and voicing (as advised by William Isaac).

Lindsay Uittenbogaard
Lindsay began her career as an entrepreneur, founding a ride-share start-up for students in the UK. She went on to lead more small businesses before making the shift to Employee Communications with a global organization in the Netherlands in 2001. Over theĀ following 15 years, working across Energy, IT, and Telecoms sectors, she saw aĀ āfogā of misalignment between people in complex organizations. While thisĀ seemed accepted as normal, she saw it as underminingĀ and avoidable. FrustrationĀ led to inspiration and in 2016 she founded Mirror Mirror, a data-driven alignment approachĀ helping people in teams become more connected and effective.
